Les Aérostiers Cerfs-volistes

This book (in French) by Dominique Cotard published in 2011 is an absolute treasure trove, a goldmine of a book, about the uses of kites and kiting in military history, mainly the first World War. It is illustrated with (I estimate) over 500 contemporary photographs, of which the one below may well be of historical interest as being the first recorded photograph of a kite-eating tree. The photo is undated but is used as an accompaniment to a section about the period 1915-1916.
